Meet Luke Kawwas

Associate Embedded Software Engineer

Portrait of Luke Kawwas

Luke Kawwas is an Associate Embedded Software Engineer based in Plymouth, Michigan. For the past three years, he has been part of the team supporting the ETAS bootloader product, RTA-FBL. His role involves integrating, validating, and maintaining bootloader software for various customer applications.

But for Luke, it’s about more than the software. What motivates him most is knowing that customers rely on ETAS solutions every day. It’s the satisfaction that comes from resolving complex issues and delivering something that truly works. That sense of impact keeps him striving for excellence.

Did you know?
Outside of work, Luke and his colleagues recently took part in a community challenge at ETAS. They volunteered at Gleaner’s Food Bank near Detroit, helping package meals and supporting people in need. For Luke, it was more than just a day of giving back. It opened his eyes to the struggles many face in their everyday lives and reminded him of the power we all have to make a difference.

Luke's team works just outside of Detroit, right at the heart of the American automotive industry. Their location isn’t just a pin on a map, it's a connection point to some of the biggest names in mobility. Whether it’s on-site training and support sessions, or face-to-face feedback, the team’s proximity to customers shapes their work in meaningful ways.

The advantage? They get to see the impact of their work up close. They know how customers use the software, what challenges they face, and how ETAS can help them move forward. That perspective is built into every release they ship.

When a customer tells us we made their life easier - that's when I know it's all worth it.

Luke Kawwas

Luke is excited about where vehicle software is heading. The decoupling of software from hardware is unlocking innovation at a pace never seen before. His work on foundational ECU communication software helps customers build the future, from autonomous driving to real-time diagnostics.

When asked to describe it in simple terms, he says it best: modern cars are like mini-networks of computers, and his job is to make sure they talk to each other reliably and efficiently.
