Our customer, a leading Chinese technology company, required a flexible electric vehicle platform for their new model, supporting advanced connectivity, driver assistance systems, and efficient energy management, all within a tight schedule while ensuring high performance, safety, and user experience. ETAS was contracted to develop the AUTOSAR Classic and Adaptive base software for various domain controllers, resulting in the software platform for the new vehicle being built entirely with ETAS' RTA-CAR and RTA-VRTE solutions.

The challenge
Launching a new vehicle platform requires seamless integration of complex software systems. Our Customer, a Chinese OEM, needed to develop a highly optimized AUTOSAR-based software platform for multiple domain controllers within a tight timeframe. This urgent schedule necessitated an agile development approach, close collaboration, and adaptability to avoid delays in their vehicle launch. In addition, special platform features were required to increase software efficiency, including cross-core gateway communication, bus mirroring, and multi-core management using a Memory Protection Unit (MPU).
The solution
Overcoming these challenges required a strategic partnership and innovative solutions. ETAS developed a customized agile approach, leveraging its global team and expertise in AUTOSAR development. A dedicated multinational team, led by ETAS' local experts on-site, worked closely with the customer´s engineers, employing a collaborative problem-solving strategy to overcome technical obstacles and meet tight deadlines. This joint team effectively coordinated internal and external resources, supported by the engineering capabilities of ETAS on site and in Germany. As part of the project, ETAS deployed the world's first multicore AUTOSAR stack for production, leveraging its extensive experience in ECU performance optimization.
The achievement of the customer
The first software version was successfully delivered in January 2024, facilitating the timely launch of the customer´s electric vehicle in 2025. Completed at impressive speed, the project delivered a high performance software platform that integrated critical functionality within just 12 months, earning high praise from the customer. The close collaboration fostered a strong partnership characterized by effective communication, proactive problem solving, and a shared commitment to success, resulting in a robust software solution that exceeded expectations.
