The fast and the curious: Growing together with students
Providing hands-on support to help Formula Student teams refine their racecars and business concepts before competing across Europe.

When you bring ambitious students, self-built racecars, and expert engineering minds together at a cutting-edge test center, the results are nothing short of inspiring. That’s exactly what happened at Boxberg, where we co-hosted a two-day Formula Student pre-season event alongside Bosch, ITK Engineering, and Bosch Engineering.
Across the weekend, nine Formula Student teams from universities all over Germany came to push their self-built racecars and themselves to the limit. After passing technical checks, the teams used the opportunity to rehearse for the real competitions ahead. On the track, they tackled dynamic disciplines like acceleration, skid pad, and endurance. Off the track, they practiced pitching their business plans and defending their engineering designs. All under conditions that closely mirror the challenges they’ll face during the actual Formula Student events.
We proudly supported our partner teams, Rennstall Esslingen and municHMotorsport, throughout the event from hands-on ECU calibration and data analysis to in-depth feedback on engineering designs. Alongside this, our experts were also happy to offer advice and share insights with the other teams present. That’s what makes Boxberg so valuable to us: it’s not just about racing, but about close collaboration, knowledge sharing, and giving young talents the chance to test and refine their ideas before heading into the main competitions across Europe.
The atmosphere off track contributed just as much to the experience. With breakfast, fresh fruit, snacks, cool drinks, and a barbecue to round off the day, there was plenty to keep energy levels high and conversations flowing. In the end, it was as much about collaboration and shared passion as it was about technical fine-tuning.
Our highlights
The trusted performer
MunichMotorsports continues to rely on the ES910 as the central control unit for its race car.
Marking a significant milestone
10 years of close cooperation and successful partnership with Rennstall Esslingen.
Beyond engineering
Our teams demonstrated their cross-functional skills through thoughtful and convincing business plans.
Why does ETAS invest so much into this?

Because we see the future of engineering firsthand in these teams. Their creativity, drive, and team spirit perfectly match our own passion for innovation. That’s why we don’t just show up as a name on a partner list. We roll up our sleeves, bring our hardware and software tools straight to the track, and stand shoulder to shoulder with tomorrow’s engineers.
As we look ahead to the season, we’re excited to see how Rennstall Esslingen, municHMotorsport and our other partner teams turn everything they learned at Boxberg into on-track performance. While we’re stepping back from direct involvement at the official competitions this year, it was important for us to provide full technical support and guidance during this two-day event. After all, thorough preparation is the key to entering the competitions with confidence and often makes all the difference once the lights go out and the race begins.
